Puckane is a small picturesque village of less than 300 people in Tipperary. It is located less than an hour's drive from Shannon Airport and an hour and 30 minutes from Dublin Airport. Nenagh is 10km (approximately 6 miles) away on the R493. It is close to Lough Derg, one of the largest lakes in Ireland.
Shane McGowan spent much of his childhood nearby and makes reference to the area in many of his songs, including "The Broad Majestic Shannon"

Puckane was also a favourite holiday spot of Gene Kelly (famed for the classic Singin' in the Rain) who stayed in our thatched cottages in the 1970's with his extended family and Hollywood friends.
Gene first came to Puckane in 1973 with his children, following the death of his wife Jeannie, spending a month in cottage number 3.
He frequented the local pub - Kennedy's Bar - which has long been a favourite of musicians and song-writers alike and has been the scene of many impromptu gigs!
